“Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.” -Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin was not only a Founding Father, but also one of the greatest writers and satirists of the time. An ode to that is The Drinker’s Dictionary, originally published by Franklin in The Pennsylvania Gazette in 1737. With an emphatic foreword, followed by 228 round-about phrases describing the revered act of drinking, The Drinker’s Dictionary reminds us that alcohol is not only deeply rooted in our history, but that it can also be a truly venerable experience.
